Cross Country & Schooling

Elysian Hills is situated on open, rolling hills with spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our cross country courses cover approximately 80 acres of land. The cross country obstacles are designed with the philosophy that cross country jumping should be over natural elements likely to be found while hacking out or fox hunting. The obstacles are all very natural and inviting including logs, stone walls, ditches, banks and multiple water crossings.

Over the years, we have developed Introductory through Preliminary cross country courses offering a wide variety of elements. Our Introductory course (18") will be included for the first time in the 2010 Elysian Hills Schooling Horse Trial series. We also offer Elementary (2'3"), Beginner Novice (2'7"), Novice, Training and Preliminary courses. Each course is designed to provide a safe, natural and confidence building ride for both the horse and rider at the prospective levels.

Cross Country Schooling is allowed by appointment only. You may bring your trainer or schedule a lesson with an Elysian Hills instructor. Please email cbrickley@wildblue.net to schedule an appointment and to receive additional information regarding cross country schooling. Please note that we do not allow dogs or smoking at any time on Elysian Hills grounds. All schooling riders must sign either an adult or minor release each time you ride and prior to riding.
